HOW
TO SET UP YOUR BLOG
1. Set up a
Google account and also sign up for web based
Gmail. (This
gives you easy access to email from any computer anywhere
in the world.)
2.
Locate
www.blogger.com and
follow instructions to set up a blogsite, using your Gmail
account. Select a distinctive blog name – (URL) (p.63) as
short as possible.
PRACTISE
AT HOME BEFORE YOU TRAVEL
1.
Practise
adding blog pages on your home computer, so you become
familiar with the sequence.
2.
Internet
cafes are all different, so practise at Internet cafes in
your home town before leaving, to get confidence.
3.
Put your
various user names and passwords in a handy place where you
can find them quickly while travelling, and leave a copy
with a friend back home.
LAPTOP
OR NOT ?
If you
carry a laptop with you when you travel, then it makes it
easy to burn photos to a CD as you travel, organise your
photos and resize them for the blogsite. HOWEVER taking a
laptop on holiday might defeat the very idea of a holiday,
so here is another way to do it.
Normally your camera should be set to the highest
resolution possible so you can produce high quality prints
when you get home. However, when you see a scene you would
like to send home, change the resolution to 640x480 pixels,
and take an extra photo for the blogsite.
THEN
SWITCH THE RESOLUTION BACK TO HIGH
AGAIN.
You can then select this extra photo for uploading to the
blog.
