Conpact Digital Cameras do not have mechanical shutter,
they hav e a device that swithes the sensor on and off and
this means they can also take short movie clips,, unlike
large cameras with shutters. The length of time you record
depends on the resolution you set on the camera with medium
resolution usually being the best compromise between
reasonable quality and use of space on your memory card.
Movie clips are downloaded on to your computer like photo
images but they have an extension like MPEG instead of
JPEG.
Many people take movies and have a quick look at them but
then let them disapear into the hard drive. Why not collect
your movie images in afolder, then edit and combine them
into a short movie, which you can them burn on to a DVD and
enjoy several clips together on your TV or computer screen.
Here are some links ot help you combine and edit movie
clips. Doing this is a great way to try movies before going
out and buying an expensive video camcorder.
Software - To combine short video clips you do not
need high level movie editing software. Best to use iMovie
for macs or Microsoft Movie Maker for windows.
